  • Mechanism (cause) of injury (e.g., fall, fire, firearm, motor vehicle crash, poisoning, suffocation)
  • Body region (e.g., traumatic brain injury, spinal cord, torso, upper and lower extremities)
  • Nature (type) of injury (e.g., fracture, dislocation, internal injury, open wound, amputation, and burn)
  • Geographic location (national, regional, state) where the injury occurred
  • Sex, race/ethnicity, and age of the injured person

Genome.gov | Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms

Genome.gov | Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) created the Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms to help everyone understand the terms and concepts used in genetic research. In addition to definitions, specialists in the field of genetics share their descriptions of terms, and many terms include images, animation and links to related terms.

Getting Started:

Enter a search term or explore the list of terms by selecting a letter from the alphabet on the left and then select from the terms revealed. (A text-only version is available from here.)

  1. The Talking Glossary

At the bottom of most pages in the Talking Glossary are links to help you get the most out of this glossary.

Linked information explains how to cite a term from the Glossary in a reference paper. Another link allows you to suggest a term currently not in the glossary that you feel would be a valuable addition. And there is a link to email any of the 200+ terms to a friend.

Welcome - Medpedia

Welcome – Medpedia

About The Medpedia Project

The Medpedia Project is a long-term, worldwide project to evolve a new model for sharing and advancing knowledge about health, medicine and the body among medical professionals and the general public. This model is founded on providing a free online technology platform that is collaborative, interdisciplinary and transparent. Read more about the model.

Users of the platform include physicians, consumers, medical and scientific journals, medical schools, research institutes, medical associations, hospitals, for-profit and non-profit organizations, expert patients, policy makers, students, non-professionals taking care of loved ones, individual medical professionals, scientists, etc.

As Medpedia grows over the next few years, it will become a repository of up-to-date unbiased medical information, contributed and maintained by health experts around the world, and freely available to everyone. The information in this clearinghouse will be easy to discover and navigate, and the technology platform will expand as the community invents more uses for it.

In association with Harvard Medical School, Stanford School of Medicine, Berkeley School of Public Health, University of Michigan Medical School and other leading global health organizations, Medpedia will be a commons for the gathering of the information and people critical to health care. Many organizations have united to support The Medpedia Project. See the Record of Merit.

CDC WONDER

CDC WONDER

CDC WONDER: Information and Communication

Welcome to CDC WONDER -- Wide-ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research -- an easy-to-use, menu-driven system that makes the information resources of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) available to public health professionals and the public at large. It provides access to a wide array of public health information.

CDC WONDER furthers CDC's mission of health promotion and disease prevention by speeding and simplifying access to public health information for state and local health departments, the Public Health Service, and the academic public health community. CDC WONDER is valuable in public health research, decision making, priority setting, program evaluation, and resource allocation.

CDC WONDER, developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is an integrated information and communication system for public health. Its purposes are:

  1. To promote information-driven decision making by placing timely, useful facts in the hands of public health practitioners and researchers, and
  2. To provide the general public with access to specific and detailed information from CDC.

With CDC WONDER you can:

  • Access statistical research data published by CDC, as well as reference materials, reports and guidelines on health-related topics;
  • Query numeric data sets on CDC's computers, via "fill-in-the blank" web pages. Public-use data sets about mortality (deaths), cancer incidence, HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, vaccinations, natality (births), census data and many other topics are available for query, and the requested data are readily summarized and analyzed, with dynamically calculated statistics, charts and maps.

The data is ready for use in desktop applications such as word processors, spreadsheet programs, or statistical and geographic analysis packages. File formats available include plain text (ASCII), web pages (HTML), and spreadsheet files (Tab Separated Values). All of these facilities are menu-driven, and require no special computer expertise.

Research & Benchmarking

Research & Benchmarking

AMGA is a pioneer in the measurement of health outcomes and other data for clinical and service quality improvement. To enhance our members’ ability to deliver the highest quality care to their patients, we offer various collaborative research projects and benchmarking programs. Participants have access to timely and relevant data that helps them quantify provider, employee, and patient satisfaction, identify opportunities for improving clinical processes, and distinguish their organizations in the marketplace.

Research
AMGA is dedicated to sharing innovations in patient care. Many of our members are leaders in quality improvement and have developed new tools and programs for improving health outcomes, lowering the cost of care, and increasing patient satisfaction. Through learning collaboratives, best practice compendiums, and other tools, we share those solutions so others may build upon the programs and continue redesigning care processes to better meet the needs of their patients.

Benchmarking
Today, medical groups depend on multiple sources of data to monitor and improve performance. AMGA understands the challenges inherent in mining and reporting data critical to the successful operation of a medical group. By using AMGA’s comprehensive data resources, medical groups are able to benchmark their performance against other groups on both a national and regional level.

Pubget: the search engine for life-science PDFs

Pubget: the search engine for life-science PDFs

Pubget solves the problem of full-text document access in life science research. Instead of search results linking to papers, with Pubget's proprietary technology, the search results ARE the papers. Once you find the papers you want, you can save, manage and share them — all online.

Each year, scientists spend at least a quarter billion minutes searching for biomedical literature online. This is time they could better spend curing disease and building the future. Pubget's mission is to give them (you!) that time back.
